We thrilled with the creation of Alan's Hero Fund (http://www.stbaldricks.org/hero-funds/mistercheeks/) at St. Baldrick's Foundation. We will be having a special event on the afternoon of September 22 to "launch" the fund - a special rocket launch at the Kitty Hawk Flying Field. This will be a fundraiser with raffle rockets, refreshments, and a few Childhood Cancer Awareness items for sale and some big high powered rockets from the Alamo Rocketeers!
The St. Baldrick's Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity that funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government. Join us in fighting this monster that took Alan away from us and keeping his memory alive.
SOARS, in partnership with St. Baldrick's and the Alamo Rocketeers, is proud to officially announce the launch of Alan's Hero Fund, benefiting pediatric cancer research through the St. Baldrick's Foundation!
The date and time is 22 Sep 2013, 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM at Kitty Hawk Flying Field, near Bracken, TX (Nacogdoches and 3009).
The main event will be flying 'raffle ticket' rockets, with several prizes to be awarded at the end of the event.
The following items will be for sale:
$1.00 for 'Spirit Sticks' at the launch
$2.00 per flying 'raffle ticket' (includes rocket, engine, and one launch)
If you have your own rockets to fly but no engines, SOARS can provide engines at the following rates:
$1.00 per mini engine (13mm)(1/4A3-2T to A10-3T)
$2.00 per standard engine (18mm)(A8-3 to C6-7)
$3.00 per D/E engine (24mm)(D12-3 to E12-8)
For those with their own rockets and engines, we request donations at the launcher's discretion.
Launchers will write their name on each 'raffle ticket' rocket launched, collected after each launch and deposited into a box for the raffle near the end of the event. Sport launches will occur all throughout the event, showing various types of rockets and flights.
The raffle ticket prizes include the following:
- A rocket in the shape of 'Sandy's Rocket' from the series 'SpongeBob Squarepants'
- A rocket covered in chalkboard paint - decorated by kids during the launch (includes chalk)
- A rocket done in the shape and colors of a four-leaf clover
- An "I launched Alan's Hero Fund" T-Shirt. T-shirts can also be ordered online up til September 29.

3. Accepted forms of payment at the launch include cash or check. There will be limited capacity at the launch to make credit card donations directly to St. Baldrick's. If you would like to pay by credit card, consider making a donation before the event (see Note #2).
4. If you plan to fly your own rockets and need engines, please contact us to let us know what engines you need.
