Be a hero for kids with cancer!
It’s funny how normal, everyday life can change in the blink of an eye. Thursday, February 25th was like any other day in the Caruso household; until 7-year-old Brock Caruso got up for school and passed a large amount of blood through his urine. A mere 24 hours later, and after being admitted to Joe DiMaggio’s Children Hospital in Hollywood, Florida, it was discovered that Brock’s left kidney was engulfed by a cancerous mass. Brock was diagnosed with stage IV
Wilms that had spread to his lungs. His kidney was beyond recognition and dysfunctional, and a few short days later, which felt like months to family and friends, Brock would undergo a five-hour surgery to remove his left kidney, along with the 8-pound mass. Being the strong Brock that he is, he made it through like a champ and spent the next 2 weeks recovering in thehospital. Brock will now undergo radiation, as well as chemotherapy for approximately 6-8 months. While not much is known regarding Brock’s long-term prognosis, what is known is he can no longer play his beloved lacrosse, horse around with his little sister, Peyton, or attend 1st grade classes until the treatments are completed.
