Hello,
I'm shaving my head on March 9 to raise money for childhood cancer research!!!
Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? Since childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded, I decided to join St. Baldrick's Foundation this year by participating in it's largest fundraising event that takes place in all 50 states and 28 countries.
The concept was devised in 1999 by three Irish-American businessmen who turned their St. Patrick's Day Party into a benefit for pediatric oncology research by shaving their heads to show solidarity with children undergoing chemotherapy treatment. I could come up with a "Three guys walk into a bar" joke, but childhood cancer is nothing to laugh at. In fact, it is heartbreaking to think of the innocent children and their families whose lives are changed by this disease.
As uncomfortable as it is for me to ask for donations (even more uncomfortable than the fact that my head will be shaved), I think this is a very worthwhile cause, so I am moving forward by trying to raise as much as I can for research which will lead to cures.
Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
Thanks so much,
Ginny
