Bernadette G.Follow

Bernadette is a 15 year old teenager and is the 5th child in a family of 6 children. She has 4 older brothers and one younger sister. Bernadette attends Oakville Senior High School , and attends Mass with her family at Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Oakville, Missouri. Bernadette loves swimming, working word puzzles, playing solitaire, and using all things digital.

In March 2007, Bernadette received a new 6 week old Welsh corgi puppy and really enjoys spending time with him. Her puppy's name is Peanut.

Bernadette was admitted to Cardinal Glennon Hospital on February 11, 2007 and diagnosed with malignant brain tumor.

Once stabilized, it was necessary for Bernadette to have further surgery. Kathleen and I were referred to Dr. Jeffrey Leonard, a neurosurgeon at Children's Hospital and on Thursday, February 15th, we had Bernadette admitted to Children's Hospital.

On February 19, 2007 Dr. Leonard performed a biopsy/resection on Bernadette to safely remove as much of the tumor as possible.

Post-surgery treatments were scheduled for a six week period to begin on March 19, 2007. The treatments would include daily dosages of radiation and chemotherapy and would proceed on an out-patient basis.

Bernadette has made tremendous gains these past three years, and all subsequent MRI's have shown that the tumor has stabilized.

All through this incredible ordeal, Bernadette's attitude, sharp wit, and indelible spirit have remained strong and steadfast, while her intrepid character has met each medical challenge; and at no time has Bernadette ever cried about her condition or despaired about her future. Her ever positive attitude continues to shine like a beacon of blinding light as she has become an inspiration to all who know her.
