My Story

Collin was 2 when he was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, aka: ALL or Leukemia. He was in the hospital for about a month to begin with and at diagnosis 98% of his blood was cancer cells. After suffering an isolated CNS relapse in 2011 Collin endured another 2 yrs of intense chemotherapy and radiation. He finished his cancer 2.0 on 9/3/13 and is 3 yrs off chemotherapy. About one year later he suffered a spontaneous brain bleed that left him fighting with cognitive impairment, executive function control issues and headaches. He loves baseball, skateboarding, swimming, minecraft and coding. Due to some pretty awful bullies who discovered he had long term late effects that required bathroom assistance we are currently homeschooling Collin to help him get to where he needs to be academically to be a successful adult....and how thankful we are that he has a future as an adult. We are all too familiar with the need for better treatments as Collin's biggist struggles stem from damage caused by the very treatments that saved him. We hope to be able to return the gift of his life by fighting for more funding and better options for all kids covered by the very broad term Childhood Cancer.
