Celebrating 25 Years

St. Baldrick’s started as a grassroots effort 25 years ago, driven by people who believe in helping kids with cancer.

We helped to raise money for childhood cancer research

So, I'm a blogger. Specifically, I'm a Cubs blogger. And except for a few golden years making the playoffs in the 2000s, we're generally out of the post-season "race" by mid-May. I'm also the Community Manager for ChicagoNow, which how I met the amazing Sheila Quirke and learned about her amazing daughter, Donna, who died of pediatric cancer at the age of four. Through Sheila's blog, Mary Tyler Mom, and her amazing series of stories from the parents of pediatric cancer patients, I've learned, in excruciating detail , what a cruel disease cancer is, especially when it sets its sights on children. We should all be thankful for organizations like St. Baldrick's, which raises funds to fight pediatric cancer. So this baseball post-season, my October fandom is up for grabs. Whichever team has the most votes once the post-season starts at 8 pm ET on Wednesday, October 2, will be the team I cheer for, and blog about, during the postseason. All it costs you is $5 per vote. Please take 5 minutes out of your day to read Donna's Story, and then make your $5 donation. Don't forget to leave the team you want me to cheer for along with your name!
