Celebrating 25 Years

St. Baldrick’s started as a grassroots effort 25 years ago, driven by people who believe in helping kids with cancer.

Snow Angels

Late in 2002 my dear friends son Mark (Markie) was diagnosed with a tumor known as Neuroblastoma. This is a type of cancer which specifically effects children.

To that point, I had no idea that there were childhood specific cancers, furthermore I had no idea that the major organizations such as the American Cancer Society only dedicated a small fraction of their proceeds to childhood cancer research. (Certainly not discrediting the wonderful benefit the American Cancer Society provides)

In March of 2003 my friends came to me with the ask... "Would you shave your head to help raise money  for childhood cancer research?" 19 years later, the answer is still a resounding "YES!"... It's because of events like these that we are making huge progress in treatment and prognosis for these kids in the fight of their lives...

Although Markie was the strongest/roughest/toughest 2 year old I have met, he was unable overcome Neuroblastoma.

We've not given up the fight and we continue to climb in that ring in his honor year after year. Doing whatever we can to give these kids a chance at living a healthy, long, full, happy life.

In the memory of Mark "Markie" Wittman... I've learned more from a little boy in his two years on this earth than from those who have lived a lifetime.

Until we meet again! Love you kiddo!
