Celebrating 25 Years

St. Baldrick’s started as a grassroots effort 25 years ago, driven by people who believe in helping kids with cancer.

National Partner

Dragon Warriors

Please help us fund the Robert J. Arceci Innovation Award. Please read our message below.  See: Farewell to a Giant. https://www.stbaldricks.org/blog/post/changing-the-game-a-new-type-of-funding-for-kids-cancer-research/ Bob was a shavee: 2015 Shavee. The Dragon Warriors have been shaving, fundraising & sharing awareness for 7 years. We are honored with our supporting community - together we have raised over $49,000 to support research for kids cancers which are direly underfunded compared to adult cancers.  Our team and name "The Dragon Warriors" was created to honor Klaus Dragon Heiman - who has been living with a very rare sarcoma called Plexiform Fibrohistiocytic Tumors for 10 years now and is still going strong! In the beginning of our search for the best pediatric specialists - we met up with Dr. Robert Arceci at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He was a St. Baldrick's Shavee in 2015,  board member and the chair of the Scientific Advisory Committee.   Klaus remembers Dr. Arceci's kindness, warmth,  and gentle care.  As parents, Dr. Arceci was always available for any questions or consult on treatments plans for Klaus' rare sarcoma.  He was one of the rare pediatric oncologists who would authentically connect with families - going above and beyond.  In the summer of 2016 we heard the devastating news that Dr. Arceci was killed in a hit and run accident in 2015.  He was such an inspiration in the childhood cancer research community and it was so hard to lose him, but the work he started-continues with the research at St. Baldrick's.  Will you consider joining us to honor Dr. Arceci and his work? All funds raised by our team will go directly to a newly created innovation award created in his honor that funds truly outside-the-box research. We cannot think of a better way to honor a man who made such a difference in our lives during the darkest of days.  Thank you for your continued support and for honoring Dr. Arceci with us. With Sincere Thanks - The Heiman Family and all the Dragon Warriors.
