St. Baldrick’s Foundation Statement on the State of the Union Address

February 7, 2023

LOS ANGELES (February 7, 2023) – The St. Baldricks’ Foundation issues the following statement in response to President Joe Biden’s State of the Union Address on February 7, 2023:

The St. Baldrick’s Foundation, the largest charity funder of childhood cancer research grants, thanks President Biden for his ongoing commitment to cancer research, as outlined in tonight’s State of the Union Address.

Approximately 1 in 263 kids in the United States will have cancer before they turn 20, and 1 in 5 kids with cancer in the United States ultimately will not survive. Key initiatives like the newly reauthorized Childhood Cancer STAR Act, Childhood Cancer Data Initiative, and Cancer Moonshot – and consistent investments in these programs – are transforming the childhood cancer research, care, and patient navigation landscape to give new hope to kids fighting cancer and childhood cancer survivors.

The St. Baldrick’s Foundation looks forward to continuing to work collaboratively with the Administration and Congress to conquer kids’ cancer and end cancer as we know it.
