St. Baldrick’s Foundation and Combat for a Cure Foundation Partner to Support Childhood Cancer Research

LAS VEGAS (November 28, 2016) – Despite advances in therapies, about half of the children with aggressive neuroblastoma will die from the disease. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation, the largest private funder of childhood cancer research grants, and the Combat for a Cure Foundation, a non-profit focused on neuroblastoma research, have partnered to change this reality.

The Combat for a Cure Foundation has generously committed to donating $25,000 to St. Baldrick’s to help fund the most promising childhood cancer research to give kids the healthy, happy childhoods they deserve.

“St. Baldrick’s is grateful for the support of Combat for a Cure Foundation in our efforts to raise money and awareness for kids with cancer, in this case neuroblastoma specifically,” says Kathleen Ruddy, St. Baldrick’s CEO, “Combat for a Cure is singularly focused on this vicious cancer which principally afflicts young children, so we’re eager to help realize more progress in neuroblastoma research thanks to their support.”

The Combat for a Cure Foundation, based in Las Vegas, Nev., was established by Linda Naw after she found out that her best friend’s niece, Jillian, had been diagnosed with neuroblastoma – a type of childhood cancer. After spending time with Jillian, Naw decided to start her own nonprofit to help find a cure for her cancer.

“The reality of what Jillian was going through created a desire in me to help find a cure for childhood cancers,” says Linda Naw, founder of Combat for a Cure Foundation. “My dedication to this is something that drives me daily. I have high hopes of one day seeing a cure for this ugly disease and helping millions of children around the world. This is near and dear to my heart. I fully intend to combat this disease full on until we become successful.”

The Combat for a Cure Foundation will host their 3rd annual holiday gala on Friday, Dec. 2nd at the Four Seasons Hotel in Las Vegas. The gala is a black tie event with a cocktail hour and 3 course dinner. All proceeds will benefit the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.
