Thinking back, I've lost count of how many times I've complained about how I don't have "good" hair. It's too thin, it's not the right color, "oh, if I could just have hair like Merida from Brave!"
But... there are so many brave souls fighting for their lives, many of them just children that don't even have hair to complain about.
As Tabatha Coffey said, "it's not really about the hair." It's about giving instead of taking for once; it's about being grateful for my health and opportunities. I want to do something that I'm proud of. I want to be able to say I helped make a difference, and I believe that through this organization is one of the best ways to do so.
Not only am I raising funds to fight childhood cancer, but I am raising awareness. I know I will probably get stares and questions, and I know for a fact that I will be cold. But every time someone asks, I can explain that childhood cancer is still a serious issue, and I can proudly say that I raised money for research. (But in order to well, you know, brag... for want of a better word, I need your help [and your money].)
Hair grows back; a child's life does not.
Also, please know that Midwestern University's fundraising efforts is a competition between schools. If you donate, not only are you supporting a serious cause, but you're supporting Chicago College of Pharmacy's quest for the Baldo Cup against Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and the College of Health Sciences!
So I kindly ask all of you, please help me in my quest to make a difference. Every single dollar will help reach my goal and help beat cancer. All you have to do is click that little button. You can donate online! Without leaving your seat! How cool is that?
Thank you,
Victoria
