I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Life Shavers

I am participating in St. Baldrick's Cure for Childhood cancer this year as a Shavee - - YES, that means I am SHAVING MY HEAD!! Team LifeShaver's 2015 is gonna ROCK this year!! You may ask why I have chosen to do this instead of just donate myself. For the last several years, I have supported my wonderful friend, Morgan Webb, as this is a cause that is near and dear to her heart. I am always in awe of her when she shaves her head, and the excitement in her voice as I listen to her talk about it. In 2014, after St. Baldrick's, I decided to think about joining her team in an effort to raise money to find a Cure. I might not can donate $1,000.00, but surely I have 100 friends and/or family that would give at least $10.00 to help reach my goal. While I thought about it all through 2014 and wavered back and forth, a childhood friend was diagnosed with cancer - he lost his battle this past fall and I decided right then and there that I was joining the fight. I even sent Morgan a text that night and told her "I was in." I also had a family member diagnosed this past year and while this person is not a child, they are somebody's child. It doesn't matter if your 2 or 22, your still somebody's child, and those parents are just as scared for their baby. I look at my daughter each and every day of my life and thank God that she is happy, healthy, and strong - - not all parents have the luxury of being able to say that. Luckily I do, and I have learned not to take it for granted. There has got to be a Cure for cancer, we just have to work together to find it!! Mark your calendars and join us at City Market in Savannah on Saturday, March 7, to watch me go bald! Please consider donating to join my fight against this awful disease. You will notice throughout that I have never used a capital C when saying the word cancer - - I refuse to give that word the dignity of being capitalized.
