I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

Many of you reading this are aware that I'm no stranger to head shaving, but this time is different and special, and I'll tell you why: Several years ago I met my hilarious, compassionate, passionate friend Eva; we bonded over similar interests, music, and social advocacy...she also happens to have a whole lotta hair.

Some of you, like Eva, have been able to hear my story of being a childhood cancer survivor; so you know that at the age of six I fought cancer, and won. What you may not know is that fighting cancer was a formative experience for me, and one that continues to shape my experience as I overcome the long term effects that cancer treatment had on my body, stood by my friends as they fight the same battle against cancer, and learned about how we as a nation fund childhood cancer research. If you are reading this, I want you to know that my life was saved by advancing research, which is a privilege that has afforded me the opportunity to be as healthy as I am today without damage to my brain and heart. I hope that I have been able to use this opportunity to speak up for other children like myself, because we all want children to grow up healthy and strong and make their mark on the world. I want every child diagnosed with cancer to be able to have the same opportunity I have had; to grow up, to live their dreams, to change the world.

That is why when Eva reached out to me and said that she wanted to shave off all of her long locks for the kids, in solidarity with me and children fighting cancer everywhere, I was 100% on board. It means a great deal to me that Eva has been my friend through times of loss and sadness in my cancer journey, I consider myself lucky have her on my team and to be able to do our small part to make the future better for our kids. If you're reading this and you would like to join us on our mission for more healthy children, please show us some love via donation on this page. Every donation is a chance for St. Baldrick's to fund the research that will be safer and more effective for children everywhere!

Thanks for taking the time today, you are wonderful!
