Goal Raised. I have been so overwhelmed with how quickly the word has gotten out and we were so close to $2000 that I thought I shoot for higher!! Thank you all who donated for helping me make a difference.
The Results are in and the time is set. My 8th period class, with an average GPA of 3.1 has won the right to make me bald:) Shaving event now set for 2:15
I am doing this to motivate my students, show them how to make a difference and in honor of Moey Cantor, a colleague of mine's daughter who just lost her battle with cancer.
I'm shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research!
I am a ninth grade teacher in Humboldt Park, a rough neighborhood in Chicago. Our students are 90% + extreme poverty and 99% minority. In an attempt to further motivate them to become college eligible, I am going to let the class with the highest GPA for the third quarter shave my head in class, streamed live through St. Baldricks!
Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures. Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
