I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research
Two years ago I was shaving my head for St Baldrick's to raise money and awareness in honor of my nephew Micah. At this event Isaiah asked me if black kids get cancer. I answered him that cancer can affect anyone and yes, black kids get cancer. He then looked at me and asked why he didn't see any people that looked like him shaving their heads. We had a great talk about black hair, where we live and how both of those we might affect why we do not see many black people at shaving events. He got quiet and didn't say anything for a while. Later that week he turned to me and said " I am growing my hair out long enough that I can donate it for wigs for kids." This week he has reached the point where his hair is long enough to cut and donate. Please consider making a donation to St Baldrick's for him and support him as he has chosen to do this in honor of kids battling cancer.
