I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I discovered St. Baldrick's in 2014 and signed up as a way to support one of my friends whose father was diagnosed with cancer. I have lost of a lot family and friends to cancer and it's a miserable enough disease when you get struck as an adult, but for a child I can't imagine anything more terrifying

The first time I ever heard of a cancer I was 9 years old and one of my classmates/friends had leukemia. I had no idea what that meant at the time, I just knew that Jason was a great guy and I really enjoyed hanging out with him but because he was sick he missed school a lot. And most days he wasn't able to go outside and play at recess so we'd hang out together in the classroom. We were both in fourth grade and before the end of the year he lost his battle to cancer. It was the first time in my life I realized that kids could die.

So this year I decided to shave my head again and I'm really hoping to be able to reach my fundraising goal. Actually I'd love to blow my goal out of the water and help raise both money and awareness for this awesome organization. The other reason I'm shaving my head is for the kids going through chemo and fighting the good fight. It's a small gesture but I hope that it helps them realize that they are not alone.
