Some may have noticed an evolving hair style, thinking I’m going through the mid-life thing. You could be right, but I’d rather say growing my hair for the past year was done more to raise awareness of the St. Baldrick’s Foundation and the good work they do for all of us. Going to last year’s NAMIC conference in Denver brought this home to me. Many had the opportunity to hear first-hand from a St. Baldrick’s funded cancer researcher and a young family who is fighting for their child’s life. With research funds made available through the foundation, a specific protocol was developed for this child, who’s cancer is in check for now. Childhood cancers tend to be aggressive, rare and expensive to treat. As a result, childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. St. Baldrick’s sole focus is to support these families and discover new and effective treatments for the young amongst us.
While quite fond of the new look, time is fast approaching to shave it all off and ask you for a generous donation. Please keep in mind your company may offer to match your donation.
My good friend Gita Estersohn of Willis Re is again shaving her head! We’re planning a head shaving event in Philadelphia on March 15 at the Field House Philly, 11th & Filbert. If you can join us, please mark your calendar and let us know.
Thank you for your support!
