Everyday we go through our busy lives without paying much care or attention to the simple things. We stress about work and school, overindulge ourselves with materialistic things and waste our time with television and social media. We do this without stopping to enjoy the simplicity that surround us, like the joy of a smile, the laughter of a joke or the warmth of a hug. These are just a few of the things that many children will not be able to experience without our help. For those who know me or have recently seen me around, you may have noticed that I have been growing a beard. You may have thought to yourself "why he is growing it, did he loose a bet." The fact of the matter is that I am doing this to raise awareness and funds for childhood cancer research. This year cancer struck home when my Sister was diagnosed with breast cancer. I am lucky to be able to say that she is in remission and cancer free. In honor of my Sis, I have vowed once again to take part in St. Baldrick's Foundation by sponsoring a child with cancer and raise money for cures. Cancer is an evil plaque but even more so when it effects the the innocence of a child. Childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. I have pledged to grow my beard until I reach my fundraising goal, at which time I will shave my beard. Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? The amount you donate does not matter. Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and adults fighting cancer. I will be the first to admit that it is not often I do an unselfish act, like that of helping a complete stranger. So how about we stop and give thanks for all that we are blessed with and help someone in need!
