I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: The Avenghairs

"It's just hair" is what we would say to our six year old son, Bodhi, as he was losing all of his during his first sessions of chemotherapy in 2013. Bodhi was diagnosed with a medullablastoma brain tumor at the base of his skull and completed 16 months of radiation and chemotherapy to regain his health. Those were scary, dark days for our family the and Bolingbrook St Baldrick's team worked hard to help Bodhi have fun and feel special throughout treatment. We were so lucky to have a home in the Bolingbrook event, and we found a family of amazing people who want to donate for the best of causes.

This year, at our son Bodhi's request, it's our turn to support and give back just a little hair and hopefully as much money as we can to an organization that I hope one day won't need to fight cancer because they will have helped cure it.

The St. Baldrick's Foundation now funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government. St. Baldrick's has committed more than $200 million since 2005 to fund local institutions as well as cooperative research on a national scale to help doctors work together to develop the best treatments for all children with cancer. Thank you in advance for your love, support, and donations!

PS - check back here now and again as John and I will be dyeing our hair crazy colors and perhaps trying out different shorter hair & beard styles as we hit donation milestones before we say goodbye to our luscious locks!
