I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

Every year I shave my head for St. Baldrick’s. While many people do this and it’s all for a good cause, I want you to know WHY I do it. I do it for “Z.” I grew up with a woman who has remained a dear friend since 8th grade (1985 for those doing the math) and we’re still very close today. In 2001 she lost her 3 year old son “Z” to childhood cancer. “Z” and I share a birthday and he would have turned 15 this coming June, the same age I was when I met his Mom. If life were fair he’d be riding bikes, playing baseball, probably skateboarding around the neighborhood and like all teenagers getting excited about high school, driving and overall driving his mom crazy….and she wouldn’t be missing him. He never got a chance to do any of that. I’m not a pretty man…haha…we all know that. I’m not a doctor either. But I am a Dad to one of the greatest kids in the world and there are ways that even my goofy ass can help. I can’t help “Z,” but maybe I can help some other little boy or little girl from losing their battle. I can help some other parents from having to bury their baby. I have just over a thousand Facebook friends. If even half of you would go to my St. Baldrick’s page and donate just $5: that would be $2,500 we could raise for St. Baldrick’s…in the name of “Z.” If you can help, I thank you. If not, that’s ok too. Send up a prayer for a special little boy and then go home and hug your babies.
