I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

Cancer has been a very serious affliction in my life. Though I myself do not have it, my mother does; it has been a very stressful battle for both her and me. Faced with grim odds, she went through a very rigorous and painful series of treatments that have had their physical and financial tolls. Nevertheless, she did not give up. She took the pain and rose above her disease, ultimately turning those grim odds around and surviving 7 years of tough treatment. Because of this situation, I understand how it for a family affected by this illness. I know it’s emotionally and financially cruel to a family’s well-being. Along with my mother, my God-mother’s dad, who was diagnosed with cancer, tragically passed away. He was a great man to many and his memory will forever be cherished. That is why I shave my head. I shave in honor of my mom’s battle and my God-mothers’ dad’s passing. I shave to honor those still fighting cancer today, and to remember those who we have lost to it.
