I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Team Fighting Irishman

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Team Fighting Irishman

In what is now my 15th year of head shaving with St. Baldrick's, many know my son Patrick's life long journey fighting leukemia. Diagnosed in 2004, he went through standard chemotherapy for 3-1/4 years, high intensity chemotherapy for relapse protocol, a bone marrow transplant, experimental T-cell therapy (CAR-T19), and then a 2nd bone marrow transplant in 2018. As we approach St. Baldrick's 2021, he remains in remission. He is a walking miracle. Your generous donation supported the experimental T-cell therapy. Your dollars helped bridge the gap between the two bone marrow transplants. Your dollars gave Patrick life - and hope. While T-cell therapy was not a cure for Patrick, it has been for many others. Studies continue, trying to understand why T-cell therapy, now FDA approved and known commercially as Kymriah, works for some and not for others. But like Patrick, some times the T-cell therapy provides the body a respite between BMTs. "Stacked" or repetitive BMTs are typically not survivable. Note the kids being honored. There are so many more. They need our help. With only 4% of federal funding from NIH cancer research being directed to pediatric cancer research, St. Baldrick's funds life saving research projects to improve outcomes. Your support of Team Fighting Irishman is greatly appreciated. The dollars you donate may be supporting a research grant that gives a child a chance at a lifetime of tomorrows! Sliante' to you and yours! Mike McSweeney Team Fighting Irishman
