Growing up I have had cancer affect my life as my grandfather passed away from Small Cell Lung Cancer and my older brother had renal cancer before I was born. He was able to have his tumor removed and has always been a role model to me, this may have been part of the reason for my passion in oncology.
I currently work at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St Louis, Missouri as a Registered Nurse in Siteman Cancer Center on the Oncology/Surgical ICU. We recieve patients that are having complications from Stem Cell Transplants or issues directly relating to their cancer diagnosis. I have had cancer affect my family but I have never seen how sick people can get until I began working on an oncology unit.
My family has always been apart of St. Baldrick's since we were little to support my brother but I was always too timid to do it. Now after seeing how hard the road to recovery is for patients and their loved ones, I feel now is the time I join in the family tradition.
Help me raise money and awareness to aid in research to treat childhood cancer and not only save a life, but a family!!
