I shaved my head again with St. Baldrick's to raise money and help conquer kids' cancers! Every 2 minutes a child is diagnosed with cancer worldwide, and 1 in 5 of those in the U.S. will not survive. I refuse to accept this reality, so I’ve decided to fundraise for lifesaving research to find cures and better treatments for kids.
COVID-19 may have postponed St. Baldrick’s Day for Team Katherine until later in the year, but the needs of pediatric cancer research don’t wait on any virus. After almost a month’s growth, my hair cried out for a trim. With social distancing precluding a trip to the barber shop, what better way to get it cut than to go all the way with a shave for St. Baldrick’s?
So as you can see in the pictures, my wife, Nora, did the honors. I must say, she was a lot more careful than the barber was when I got my head shaved on the first day of Beast Barracks at West Point now over 50 years ago. The result is the same, though there were no funds going for pediatric cancer research on that long ago day. You can remedy that by joining us in donating to St. Baldrick’s Foundation in honor of the sacrifice my white hair has made!
This year is a very special shaving in honor of the battle our next-door neighbors’ beautiful daughter is winning against her acute leukemia. Lia has completed several rounds of chemotherapy and is thriving as she heads through more treatments for remission to complete recovery. She is a shining example of how pediatric cancer research like the work the St. Baldrick’s Foundation funds has changed this childhood terror into a disease that will be cured.
Now I need your support! Your donation can fund research to help kids survive and thrive. Join me today and let’s #DFYchildhoodCancers together.
