I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: John Read Middle School

I'm shaving my head, for the 10th year in a row, to raise money for childhood cancer research! However, unfortunately, this year I have a personal connection to Cancer. I have always despised that word, but this year it took my Dad's life. He fought his Glioblastoma with great courage for 13 months+. The entire time he would consistently tell his neuro-oncologist that he wanted to do whatever he could, with regard to treatment, to help others. He also spent many years prior to this supporting me and my two sons as we "Braved The Shave" on many occasions and at many locations. That support was always monetary, but also as a spectator from time to time. He believed in the need, just as our team does and always has, to support this worthwhile program...and honor those impacted by Cancer. He had mentioned possibly getting involved at some point, and on March 12, 2018 he joined our school team...raising funds and braving the shave in the midst of undergoing treatment. I was incredibly proud of him, and excited that he had the opportunity to see the other side of the clippers :-) Shortly thereafter his condition diminished and forced him into the hospital, then to rehab, and finally to assisted living. During the nine months in assisted living he constantly talked about wanting to grow his hair out, color it, and shave it again. He even wondered if he could hold an event at the facility he was located at...and I wondered who would be willing to take on that task in that environment ;-) I knew one guy would for sure...MY DAD! That moment never came to fruition, but my work isn't done. This year, and every year going forward (as long as I can) I will shave my head in my Dad's honor...with the hope, the same hope he fought his diagnosis with, that one day Cancer will be no more. Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
