I'm shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research! Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures. Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers. My goal is to raise at least $1,500. I know probably seems impossible for a 13 year old to complete, but lots of things are.
Cancer is something that has run in my family. My Aunt sadly lost her battle due to breast cancer when I was no more than two years old. My grandfather lost his life when he was about 63 years old. His dream was to dance with me at my wedding. Sadly, he can't, but I believe he will still be there in spirit.
You might be thinking,"What is cancer?" Well, Cancer is the name given to a collection of related diseases. ... Many cancers form solid tumors, which are masses of tissue. Cancers of the blood, such as leukemias, generally do not form solid tumors. Cancerous tumors are malignant, which means they can spread into, or invade, nearby tissues. This can spring up in babies, children, and adults. This information was found at www.cancer.gov.
I choose to shave because I want to find a cure. I know children are tired of staying in a bed and not being able to go outside and play with their friends. Study shows that children need at least 60 minuets of physical activity a day. I want my donations to go and help children get back on their feet so they can go and play outside again and get that physical activity without being afraid to die.
I have chosen to honer this kid named Alex G. I choose him because he has been facing many many hardships and he is around my age. I couldn't imagine anything like this and even worse, he was diagnosed with cancer on his BIRTHDAY! You can find out more by checking out his story. Keep him and all the other kids battling cancer in your prayers.
Thank you.....
