I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I have never experienced the agony of a child diagnosed with cancer and I have never lost a child. I can only imagine the pain of those events. My first experience with Childhood Cancer was actually when I was pretty young. I was only 7 when I met him and today I am remembering a little boy with an infectious smile. His name was Nicholas but I remember him as Nicky. Nicky was 2 1/2 years younger than me and his sister is my grade school and high school classmate. Nicky was one of the 1 in 5 who did not survive. He was only 5 and I was just 8. I remember the trip we took Nicky on to the Boy Scout Jamboree in Calgary the summer before he left us. I remember his sweet smile and his laugh and his love of life. Nicky didn't get many years here on earth but he impacted so many in the brief time he had. On of my favorite pictures is one with him and my dad (who was in an adult leadership role in the Scouts at that time) in Calgary. I also have a little cousin who was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma at only 9 weeks of age.  Her mom is my closest cousin.  Alexis is now 13 and an amazing young woman.  I also have a friend who lost her daughter just days after receiving a diagnosis.  Honestly, I have so many friends that have been affected by cancer and whose children have been diagnosed.  Cancer of any type is horrible but kids with cancer is the worst.  These kids are my heroes with what they bravely go through as they fight against an unforgiving disease.  In honor of Alexis and Nicky and all the other families and children affected by cancer, I'm shaving my head on February 13th, 2020 to demonstrate my love for these brave and amazing children and to raise money for childhood cancer research! Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures.  I have an aggressive goal of $5000 and am looking for 200+ people to join me in the fight against childhood cancer.

I need your help! Will you show your love for these children and make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
