I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

A close friend of mine, and one of my biggest role models, Peg, recently lost her life to cancer. She had been battling for over a decade. Through the treatments, bad news, and sickness, she never complained. Her outlook on life was nothing but positive. At this year’s event, I will be wearing one of her shirts in honor of her. No one should have to suffer as long as she did. My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2001. Today, she is an 11 year survivor. Every story you hear of a cancer patient brings back memories. Every death reminds me that it could have been my mom that didn’t survive. For that reason, I raise money and awareness so nobody has to lose their mom, sister, brother, father, or even a child. Each year, over 160,000 children are diagnosed with cancer worldwide. 1 in 5 will not survive. It’s not the right order of things for parents to bury their children. I raise money for them. I lose my hair for all those children who do not have a choice to.
