This will be my 17th year participating in the St. Baldrick's Day fundraising efforts and those years have absolutely flown by. In these past 16 years, through your generosity, we have raised over $133K for the St. Baldrick's Foundation. Please accept my heartfelt gratitude. Through your support, I know that we are making a difference. In fact, to put this cumulative fundraising total into perspective, we have raised enough to fund a Scholar Grant for one year, which costs $110,000. That is amazing!
Most of you know that COVID-19 came into our household with my son and I getting it. My experience with it was a challenging one, but with the support of many I was able to get through it. During some of those tough nights, I started to wonder about those fighting cancer, their fears, struggles and little victories. "You have cancer,” are often the three most devastating words anyone can hear in their lifetime. Some of you may know that cancer invaded our family as my father-in-law was diagnosed a few years ago, but feels like yesterday. He fought bravely, but succumbed to his cancer in a few short months after his diagnosis. He didn’t lose to cancer as he didn’t allow that to define him, but rather what defined him was how he lived and helping those that he cared about. I think about him and children with cancer and their families when I send out this email every year - for 17 years. I hope you will continue to support these efforts - helping those I care about - until I no longer have to send you this request.
