This will mark my 15th year of shaving my head for this amazing organization. In 2016 I was awarded the title of Knight Commander for my many years of service to this organization. And this year I'm a "Crusader for a Cure"! I'm shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research!
I have personally witnessed the toll cancer takes on a family. As you may remember from years past, my nephew was cured of his leukemia by a great team of providers and the love of his family. Cancer had affected my sister-in-law and mother-in-law. Two years ago, cancer took one of my dear adult friends and I have been heartbroken since.
This year, I know of yet another child suffering from cancer. One of my close coworkers' daughter has been diagnosed with a rare and often misdiagnosed cancer. She has Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis (LCH). She is just 2-years old and having to endure what most of us would dread in adulthood.
Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures. Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
