I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

Take a minute and think of 43 children you know. Got them? They all have cancer now. That’s how many new diagnoses there are each day in the US.

Now pick 5 of those kids to die. You can’t? Don’t worry, cancer will for you because that’s what it does. 1 in 8 children diagnosed with cancer will die.

An average elementary school has a little less than 1,000 students. Imagine walking into two elementary schools in September completely silent of giggles and shouts of kids. It is estimated cancer killed almost 1,800 children in 2017.

1,800 CHILDREN!! Try to wrap your head around that number. I don’t even know 1,800 people let alone that many children.

1,800 families who will never feel the embrace of their child again. One less stocking hangs from the mantel on Christmas morning. Birthdays are no longer days filled with joy but now marred by unspeakable pain. A simple family dinner out is now for a table of 4, not 5. Can you begin to even comprehend what that feels like? No, we can’t. But what you can do is something about it!

Some of you might find this offensive. I hope it does offends you, offends you that 100s of children are dying when something can be done about it. I pray it stirs you to such a deep hatred off ACTION against a coward that hides in the shadows killing kids.

How much would you give to save your child? Now tell me you don’t have $20, $10, even $5 to help save someone else’s child because who’s to say one day that isn’t YOUR child.

Please join with me in helping raise support for childhood cancer research and help end this epidemic.

Any other word used to describe it would be inadequate.
