I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

Well I wanted to do something bold and crazy for my 50th birthday, so here it is friends. I'm having my head shaved! Here's why: I decided I was going to go gray when I turned 50 (25 years of monthly hair dye chemicals in my body is enough!), so I'll be avoiding the dreaded line of demarcation by just shaving it off and letting it grow back in its natural color. But, more importantly, I'll be raising money to support childhood cancer research. Here's how: St. Baldrick's Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity which funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government. It has head-shaving events around the world which are much like walk-a-thons, but instead of walking, I'll take my turn in the salon chair as an act of solidarity for kids with cancer who often lose their hair during treatment. Last year alone, St. Baldrick's granted more than $23 million for research -- almost all raised by more than 31,000 "shavees" like me, from people like you! So I'm asking for your support. You could join me and be a "shavee" too ... OR ... you could make a donation on Bold Bonnie's Bald Head instead of buying that wonderful birthday present you had in mind for me for my 50th! Check out the short video on the right (above) showing some other folks at a past event, so you can see it's not just some crazy idea of mine! Or check out the brave kids I've chosen to honor below. With much appreciation for your support, your soon-to-be-50 friend, Bonnie

St. Baldrick’s Honored Kids

Kids with cancer are our reason for it all. They’re the inspiration behind our event and the reason we’re helping fund childhood cancer research. We believe all kids should be able to grow up and turn their dreams into realities. Join our event or make a donation, and click the photos below to read their incredible stories.
