I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Team Aaron

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Team Aaron

"Your son has cancer." Those are the words my wife and I heard in 2012. Those are words no parent should have to hear.

Then we were told it was Stage 4 Ewing's Sarcoma. Our hearts and souls were torn apart. But we fought. We made life fun and happy for Aaron. Treatments were hard on him. Chemotherapy, radiation, and multiple surgeries.

Here we are, almost seven years later and he is cancer-free. He has to deal with the effects of chemotherapy, radiation and his surgeries, now and for the rest of his life, but he is alive and well, living an otherwise normal life. We wish that this never happened, but since it did, and since we were blessed with the outcome, we are determined to give back, and make sure this does not happen to any family again.

We are holding this amazing and fun St. Baldrick's event, to raise money for childhood cancer research; research that will hopefully find cures, and in the process also better, safer treatments for children. Childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. Treating a child with cancer is not the same as treating an adult. They are still growing and developing, and the treatments given to them to survive can often come with other negative effects.

Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers. I will be shaving my head in solidarity with all of the survivors, fighters and those who did not or will not win their battle. You do not have to shave, though you are invited to enroll as a shavee as well. Either way, join us at our event and/or donate online!

Thank you!
