My Story

Zach is a 17-year-old warrior who is a 3-time cancer survivor. Zach was initially diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in 2007 at the age of 6. He beat cancer after 3 and 1/2 years of treatment. Unfortunately, the beast returned in 2012 when Zach was 11. Zach fought valiantly for 2 and 1/2 years and was once again cancer free.  On November 10th of 2016, the beast has returned and Zach was in for the fight of his life.

Zach was fortunate enough to be included in a CAR-t immunotherapy clinical trial at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. CAR-t cell therapy was conducted by a St Baldricks Scholar, Dr. Kevin Curran. Zach had very few options as his leukemia was not going into remission with traditional chemotherapy treatments. CAR-t immunotherapy saved Zach's life and allowed him to have his life-saving bone marrow transplant.

Today Zach is completely cancer free and enjoying his senior year in high school.  Zach recently got his drivers license and is a junior volunteer firefighter in our community fire company. We know that Zach is truly blessed to have been able to receive this innovative CAR-t treatment, and our family is eternally grateful for the passionate efforts of the St Baldrick's Foundation to continue to strive to find better treatment options for children with cancer.

Thank you for supporting me and the more than 300,000 kids worldwide who will be diagnosed with cancer this year. By sharing the gifts of your time, talent and money with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, you're supporting research to give all kids with cancer a better chance for a cure.
