To pave the way for faster cures, the Pediatric Cancer Dream Team brought the separate fields of genomics and immunotherapy together for the first time in a big way. Since 2013, this team of researchers at ten institutions across North America has become a discovery engine that’s creating new immunotherapy treatments for hard-to-treat pediatric cancers. Because of this work, children are alive today who had no other hope, and gifts to this fund will support more of this life-saving research.

The Pediatric Cancer Dream Team’s goal is to develop new immunotherapy treatments for high-risk childhood cancers. Already, children who had no other hope have survived due to this research.

The innovative new treatments being developed by the team are helping to reduce side effects, increase survival rates, and improve the quality of life for survivors. Most importantly, these advancements are driving the discovery of new therapies for solid tumors, including some brain cancers that almost no child survives today.

The Dream Team’s work has been described by experts as “lightning in a bottle.” Here are just a few of their accomplishments:

  • Pushed the first gene therapies over the finish line for FDA approval
  • Treated more than 1,268 children through early-phase clinical trials
  • Published 402 peer-reviewed manuscripts
  • Leveraged the infrastructure to receive $164 million in new funding

This collaboration began in 2013 with a 4-year $14.5 million grant co-funded by St. Baldrick's and Stand Up to Cancer (SU2C). In 2017, the St. Baldrick's Foundation awarded a second grant to continue this work, with co-funding from the member institutions and administrative support from SU2C. Donations to this fund will continue the team's life-saving research.

Please donate now and help conquer childhood cancers.
