Texas Women -- We Run to Expand Access to Clincal Trials for Kids Battling Cancer

We helped to raise money for childhood cancer research

A child facing a cancer diagnosis is awful; a child facing a cancer diagnosis without access to a clinical trial in his/her community and having to travel very far for care -- or even forego new therapies -- is, well, unacceptable.   Every year St Baldrick provides several million dollars in so-called "infrastructure grants" to hospitals nationwide to allow smaller hospitals, including those serving low-income communities, to expand access to new therapies in trial to more children in the US closer to their family's home.  But the number of hospitals applying for this grant funding ALWAYS exceeds the supply of grant funding. What is the cost of an infrastructure grant to facilitate just one new hospital being able to offer kids with cancer access to clinical trials?  It is ~$50,000. So this is our team goal - to open up clinical trials for new therapies for children battling cancer in at least one more hospital in at least one more community in the US.   When facing a tough situation, the most important thing is to have a great core team!  Jill Cetina, Julia Coronado and Sonal Shah will be running a 5k together for this cause on April 16th in Austin TX and we welcome your support either by: 1) donating here to our team page; or 2) joining our team to fundraise and run with us at the Austin Coffee House Sunrise run on Sunday, April 16 https://www.cap10k.com/ $50K in 50 days... a bold goal... can we do it?  We sure are gonna make a push! And -- Jill has pledged to go 10K and drink a sip of coffee at every Austin coffee house on the race route if we can raise $100,000 That’s what this fundraiser is all about; running cancer down to give more children a shot at healing and life.  Research is hope for kids with cancer, but it takes donations to find cures and also to widen kids' access to new therapies.  Your gift will give kids hope by supporting the best research across the country, through the largest charitable funder of childhood cancer research grants, St Baldricks!
