When I was 9, my cousin Caroline passed away from Osteosarcoma. It is because of her that I am so enthusiastic about community service and giving back. She opened my eyes to realize that the world around us is hurting and that we each need to do our part to make a difference. By cutting my hair, and raising money, as well as awareness, of osteosarcoma and the need for new cures, I hope to make her light even brighter. During the first 10 weeks of the pandemic, I took a picture of the sunset every night. One day, I noticed something. Caroline’s life is like a sunset, the view only gets prettier when the sun is gone. It does not go straight to darkness, but slowly fades into bright pink and purple. When I think of Caroline, or when you think of losing a loved one, it’s not simply darkness. Caroline’s life inspired brightness, awareness, and now promoting research to find new cures so other kids can live healthy lives.
Join me today and let’s #DFYchildhoodCancers together. I am selling masks during this time and 30% will go back to the St. Baldrick's Foundation in Carolines honor. For more information please visit: https://www.instagram.com/_clothesbykate
