Six Flags Great America

On Friday, July 19, 2013 we will host a special fundraising event for St. Baldrick’s at Six Flags Great America. To support children's cancer research, individuals and teams can raise money for the event and win prizes based on the amount they fundraise. Those who are bold and daring will shave their head in solidarity for children with cancer. Whether you shave your head or donate, we hope you’ll be part of the excitement for St. Baldrick’s! Where is this happening? The Go Big! Go Bald! event will take place before the Park opens to the public on Friday, July 19, 2013 from 8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. inside the Hurricane Harbor water park at Six Flags Great America. What do I get for donating? Participants raising over $50 will receive a free St. Baldrick’s T-shirt. Participants raising over $250 will receive a free ticket to Six Flags Great America for the 2013 season. Participants raising over $1,000 will receive a free season pass to Six Flags Great America for the 2013 season. How do I watch the event? Those wishing to watch the event can enter through the event entrance located on the right hand side of the Guest Services building. The event will take place in Riptide Bay at Hurricane Harbor. Participants and spectators will be able to enter the event begining at 8:30 a.m. Those wishing to spend the day at Six Flags Great America will exit and enter through the Main Gate after the event. All registered participants, shavee’s, donors or volunteers, will receive an entry ticket to the Go Big! Go Bald! event on July 19, 2013 after check-in. This ticket is only valid on July 19 and will allow entry to the Go Big! Go Bald! event and to Six Flags Great America for the remainder of the day. Family, friends or Season Pass Holders that have not registered online to participate in the Go Big! Go Bald! event and wish to visit the park after the event will need to purchase a $25.24 discounted ticket at sixflags.com using the promo code BALD. $5 of all discounted tickets goes to St. Baldrick’s. Park opens at 10:30 a.m. to the general public. How do I participate in this event? You can participate as an individual or form a team with your friends. Individuals and Team Captains needs to register online if they are interested in earning prizes for the amount fundraised. What different roles are there in this event? You can register as a shavee or volunteer. If you are joining someone’s team or want to register but not shave your head, then click “volunteer” when you register. You don’t have to register online to donate, simply give a donation to the individual or team you want to support. However, you do have to be registered to win prizes. Does everyone have to shave their head? No. You can sponsor someone that is already listed as a “shavee” or you can simply donate to the event online. Some teams raise money by offering a team member to shave their head if their team raises X amount of dollars… that always makes things more exciting!

St. Baldrick’s Honored Kids

Kids with cancer are our reason for it all. They’re the inspiration behind our event and the reason we’re helping fund childhood cancer research. We believe all kids should be able to grow up and turn their dreams into realities. Join our event or make a donation, and click the photos below to read their incredible stories.
