By the time you finish reading this, another child will have been diagnosed with cancer. As the battle against childhood cancer continues, so must the fight to fund the research. But, the ultimate goal isn't raise money. The ultimate goal is to cure childhood cancers. With everyone's hard work, we are truly making an incredible difference. On March 15th, 2014 at Jimmy’s Tavern we will be hosting the 3rd Annual Pueblo West St. Baldrick’s Foundation’s headshaving event, where individuals will come together and shave their heads in solidarity with the 175,000 children worldwide who will be diagnosed with cancer this year, raising funds for much needed childhood cancer research in the process. (If you are a Shavee, make sure you come back at 3:45 that afternoon for the group picture of all of us!) In 2012, our local St. Baldrick’s event had 67 participants and raised $8,374. Last year, the numbers jumped to 99 participants and $12,551. Over 100 local businesses donated last year alone. Projected numbers for 2014 will be 150 participants and we will raise $20,000. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation currently funds more in research grants than anyone outside the US Government, in excess of $125 million since becoming an independent Foundation in 2005, and more than $25 million in 2013 alone! St. Baldrick’s research grants help fill crucial funding gaps at medical institutions where children are treated for cancer, ensuring the finest care for every child at more than 200 institutions around the world. I have attached a copy of a letter the St. Baldrick’s Foundation sent me after our event last year that outlines the positive impacts that have been made thus far. Please feel free to contact me at (719)248-6328 with any questions you may have. In the meantime, to learn more about St. Baldrick’s please visit www.StBaldricks.org and to learn more about our local event, please visit www.PuebloWestHatesCancer.com. I do hope you will join the mission to Conquer Childhood Cancers!< Sincerely, Grant Shay Go see all the fun pictures and local businesses who donated from past events at http://www.stbaldricks.org/events/mypage/7857/2012 and http://www.stbaldricks.org/events/mypage/7857/2013.

St. Baldrick’s Honored Kids

Kids with cancer are our reason for it all. They’re the inspiration behind our event and the reason we’re helping fund childhood cancer research. We believe all kids should be able to grow up and turn their dreams into realities. Join our event or make a donation, and click the photos below to read their incredible stories.
