Forest View Alternative School students help announce $20 million raised for childhood cancer research in 2013

A big thank you goes out to all of our St. Baldrick’s events that took place last week and over the weekend — your efforts helped us reach $20 million!

The students at Forest View Alternative School in Arlington Heights, Illinois, hosted their fourth annual St. Baldrick’s head-shaving event on March 21st and raised more than $3,300 for childhood cancer research.

What motivates these students to shave? Volunteer event organizer John Schwarz says a former student inspired this year’s event:

“Today was the most memorable St. Baldrick’s event I have hosted in four years! We have dedicated this day to a former high school student, Sabrina. She is in stage IV cancer and is our living hope. We have raised money and awareness in her name. Sabrina has touched my heart, just like every cancer patient. This just makes me want to do more and more to help kids with cancer.”
