Baltimore Heroes celebrating $19 million raised for childhood cancer research

Smile and say $19 million raised for childhood cancer research!

That’s right, in just two short days, St. Baldrick’s supporters from around the world have helped raise another million to conquer kids’ cancer!

Happy to squeeze in for a photo, the more than 250 shaves and volunteers who attended the 5th Annual Baltimore Heroes Event  proudly show off their pearly whites and newly shorn heads while holding the $19 million sign. The event was quite the success, raising more than $120,000!

Volunteer event organizer for the Baltimore event, Dan Jarkiewicz, shares some encouraging words after his fifth year as a St. Baldrick’s event organizer.

“At the end of the day when you walk outside and feel the cold on your head, just smile, take a deep breath, and know that you’re a hero for kids with cancer,” Dan says.

He adds, “It’s so great to see a whole community of people come together to support our children and their futures. Everyone who attends our event leaves with a warm feeling that tells them that they’ve made a difference for the most important people in the world — our kids.”

Thank you, Dan, for your dedication over the years, and thank you to all of the wonderful Baltimore volunteers who supported the event and went bald for the cause!
