Celebrating 25 Years

Team Ila Jean

Team Ila Jean is back!! This year, however, we are here in memory of our sweet Ila Jean who went home to heaven just three short weeks after last years event. Last year we put our team together just four weeks before the event and it was amazing how quickly our team grew. I set a goal of $2500 at first then decided, what the heck, let's make it $5000 and just go for it. I never dreamed we'd go over that, but sure did hope we'd get close. When the event came, Ila Jean and I were in Maryland at the NIH for a clinical trial, as her cancer had progressed through chemotherapy. We decided to drive home and surprise the team at the event and be home for her brother's birthday that weekend too. At the event I found out that we had raised over $6000!!! Our team had 22 shavees in all that showed up to go bald for kids with cancer!! We had a few volunteers to help out at the event too! Team Ila Jean was a HUGE success!!!! With the loss of Ila Jean, I have decided to carry on with Team Ila Jean as a way to show support for other foundations and events around the country. Ila jean was so excited about this team last year and she is the one who came up with our logo of the heart with the gold ribbon. She said it was her heart and it has lots of gold ribbons inside it to help fight cancer. This was her team and she was so proud. As I was getting ready for this year's event I came to the site here and looked up our team. I hadn't looked since last year. I was shocked to see that Team Ila Jean had actually raised $9027!!! After seeing that I knew this year has to be even bigger and better! So I am getting an early start on recruiting team members and I am setting Team Ila Jean's goal at $10,000 without a moments hesitation because I KNOW we can do it!! Let's go!! IN MEMORY OF ILA JEAN!!! Team Ila Jean is ready to ROCK!!!
