Los Angeles (June 25, 2015) – Kathleen Ruddy, CEO of the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, has been announced Female CEO of the Year at the prestigious CEO World Awards. The coveted annual CEO World Awards program encompasses the world’s best in leadership, innovation, organizational performance, new products and services, CEO case studies, and customer satisfaction programs from every major industry in the world.

Kathleen dedicates her life and career to helping children with cancer. The daughter of two cancer survivors, she began working with St. Baldrick’s in 2001, was named executive director in 2004 and CEO in 2013. Under Kathleen’s leadership, the Foundation has grown into the largest nongovernment funder of childhood cancer research grants. St. Baldrick’s is a volunteer-powered organization known for signature head-shaving events where participants go bald to raise money for the cause. As CEO, Kathleen has built a team that grew the number of fundraising events from one single event in 2000 to nearly 1,400 in 2014. She has also led the organization to achieve record-breaking fundraising amounts each year, raising an impressive $38.9 million in 2014 which resulted in more than $27.2 million granted for life-saving research. Kathleen has twice shaved her head in solidarity with children with cancer, alongside other volunteers!

“It’s an honor to be named Female CEO of the Year by CEO World Awards for this esteemed industry and peer world recognition,” said Kathleen. “I am proud to serve as CEO of the St. Baldrick’s Foundation and would like to thank the thousands of children whose bravery and joy for life inspire us to do better each day; along with their families, researchers, caregivers, volunteers, donors, advocates and staff worldwide who make what we do possible. By working together, I know that one day, every child with cancer will be assured the healthy future each deserves.”
