St. Baldrick’s Foundation and Painting the Town Gold Partner to Support Childhood Cancer Research

ST. LOUIS (August 30, 2016) – The St. Baldrick’s Foundation, the largest private funder of childhood cancer research grants, is proud to announce a new partnership with Painting the Town Gold, a non-profit who is committed to bringing together entire communities to defeat pediatric cancers through research and awareness.

Now in their second year, Painting the Town Gold helps communities take up the fight against childhood cancers in September – Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Communities host different types of fundraisers, including golf tournaments and trivia nights, throughout the month with total fundraising numbers announced later this fall with a celebration.

In their first year, Painting the Town Gold raised over $80,000 to fund childhood cancer research. This September, the non-profit has set a goal of donating $90,000 to St. Baldrick’s to help fund the most promising childhood cancer research to give kids their best chance at a cancer-free life.

“St. Baldrick’s is excited for this new partnership with Painting the Town Gold to help raise money and awareness in their area,” says Kym Hoffman, St. Baldrick’s director of distinguished giving, “We appreciate the support and can’t wait to see how these communities come together to raise money to help fund the most promising childhood cancer research.”

Painting the Town Gold, based in the communities of Edwardsville/Glen Carbon, IL, was established by 17-year-old Todd Schultz, who is in treatment for high risk Philadelphia chromosome positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

“More children are lost to cancer in the U.S. than any other disease,” said Todd Schultz, “Instead of watching more of my friends lose their fight, I am choosing to fight back by raising awareness and money for childhood cancer research. I want to make sure that every kid gets to experience their life to the fullest.”

Painting the Town Gold will kick off their second annual campaign in September 2016 with two communities this year: Glen Carbon/Edwardsville, IL and Jefferson County, MO.

They are also actively seeking new communities that wish to take up the month long fight to help start campaigns for September 2017.
