St. Baldrick’s Foundation and Ethan Jostad Foundation Partner to Support Childhood Cancer Research

LOS ANGELES (June 6, 2016) – The St. Baldrick’s Foundation, the largest private funder of childhood cancer research grants, is proud to announce a new partnership with the Ethan Jostad Foundation, a non-profit who provides emotional and financial support to children and families affected by childhood cancer. The Ethan Jostad Foundation has generously committed to donating $25,000 to St. Baldrick’s to help fund the most promising childhood cancer research to give kids the healthy, happy childhoods they deserve.

“St. Baldrick’s is excited to partner with the Ethan Jostad Foundation to help raise money and increase awareness and advocate on behalf of kids with cancer,” says Kathleen Ruddy, St. Baldrick’s CEO, “We appreciate the support and can’t wait to see where this partnership takes us and what promising research we are able to fund because of their support.”

The Ethan Jostad Foundation, based in Oregon, was established by Chris and Kimberly Jostad in memory of their son, Ethan, who was taken from them at the age of 9 after fighting childhood cancer. Since its founding in 2011, the foundation has funded cutting-edge pediatric cancer research, while also providing financial aid to Oregon families with diagnosed children, and Courageous Kids Care Packages to children nationwide who are in treatment. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation will serve as their partner in funding childhood cancer research grants.

Chris and Kimberly are no strangers to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. Kimberly shaved her head bald to stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer at the Foundation’s 46 Momma Shave for the Brave event in 2012.

“We’re very excited to partner with a respected organization like St. Baldrick’s and we know the funds we raise will be used for the very best research for our kids,” said Chris Jostad, co-founder of The Ethan Jostad Foundation.

Kim Jostad, also co-founder of the foundation, added, “This partnership allows us to work with the very best team of scientific advisors connected to St. Baldricks. Our hope is to develop as many new promising treatments for those affected by childhood cancer. This exciting new venture also allows us to continue Ethan’s legacy of helping others.”

To kick-off the partnership, all proceeds from the Ethan Jostad Foundation’s 5th Annual Charity Golf Tournament, taking place Saturday, June 11th at Eagle Point Golf Club, will benefit the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.
