THE ODE TO RAIN PROJECT
Rain can be a pain. But it waters flowers and rainbows. All sorts of inspiring, fantastic things are born out of times of tears and hardship. We can be part of that.
Haven't we all dreamed of being heroes?
Somewhere, our daughter, our son, our brother, our sister, our niece, our nephew, our best friend, our hero is swinging their inner battle axe at an enemy on the inside. I'm choosing to shave my head to give a nod to their valiant efforts and to help rally the second line of defense. That's you.
I'm so stoked to be a part of this movement. My goal before Apr. 15 is to raise $3,000 for cancer research and awareness for infants, children, teens and young adults suffering from childhood cancers. Please support me and my cause with a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. Even a walk-by $1 is awesome. Just click "Make a donation" to give online, or donate by phone or mail.
Being told that you have cancer hurts. I've met some of these troopers. One little girl described it to me as, "waking up on a rollercoaster at the very top". Further research on the disease has given me some insight on how different cancers work and what people whose lives are affected by cancer do to cope. I have so much respect for the strength and solid support friends and family relay to their brave comrade in battle. I believe that we can all do something to rally behind the weak and help a fighter fight, whether the fighter is a cancer patient or otherwise. You don't have to be loud, popular, tall, mustachioed, religious, political or clad in armor and funny looking headgear. Human beings are small, but we were all born with the ability to be a hero.
Do not be afraid.
(Thanks, everyone!)
