I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Team B-Spa

I'm shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research! Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures. Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers. In November 2010 my daughter Hannah was diagnosed with a rare aggressive form of cancer, Philadelphia positive Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (Ph ALL). In her first course of treatment, there was a new drug available called Gleevec that specifically targeted, at a genetic level, the protein/enzyme reaction that was responsible for her disease. This drug had been approved for use in her particular situation less than 1 year prior to her diagnosis as a result of some studies that concluded in Oct 2009. It is these types of studies that are funded by St. Baldricks. Pediatric cancer research is grossly underfunded and organizations like St. Baldricks raise some of the needed funds for research. Hannah will have just passed the 4-year anniversary of her life-saving bone marrow transplant (courtesy of her little sister Fiona) on the Day of our St. Baldricks event. I truly believe that Gleevec was instrumental in Hannah achieving early response to her teatment, which the Doctors in Albany and Boston attribute Hannah's successful outcome thus far. Please consider a donation to my page for this St. Baldricks event in the name of kids battling cancer everywhere!
