I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: North Metro Firefighters & Friends Local 2203

Although I have donated to this worthwhile cause for several years now, this is my first year as a shavee. I am honored to represent the North Metro Firefighters team, along with my son. We have had many family and friends who have suffered one type of cancer or another, unfortunately, many of them were unable to beat this horrible disease. Through donations and research, several have survived and are currently still in remission. It seems so unfair that anyone would have to deal with cancer, let alone a child. As I was signing up for this event, one of the tasks was to honor a child with cancer. I decided to honor several children with spinal cord or brain tumors, as I know personally the struggles with any type of impairment of the central nervous system. I searched the St. Baldrick's website for children with this type of cancer, I was emotionally touched by how many children in the United States has this type of cancer. The sad part is, that is just one type of many cancers that affect children. I realize that times are tough and many charities are soliciting donations. I am asking for donations as every dollar counts towards assisting the families and research to cure cancer in children. Thank you for considering the St. Baldrick’s Foundation and moving towards a cure for childhood cancers. Sincerely, Tom
