I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

UPDATE UPDATE: My hair is growing very curly, but you can still donate to this wonderful cause. My mom donated again even in 2015 and it still accepted donations! I'm so close to my goal of $7,500! Please help me surpass my goal. I'd really love to reach $10,000!!! UPDATE: I'm BALD! But I am STILL fundraising, so please DONATE. Okay, now you can read the rest. Hi, I'm Meredith. I am in fourth grade. Why am I doing St. Baldrick's? I am shaving my head because I want to raise money and awareness for kids' cancer. Being a child is supposed to be a fun time, but instead of playing, some kids are worried whether they are going to live another day. I want to raise money to help find a cure for cancer so that children don't have to worry about if there is a tomorrow for them. I had a friend, Luke Johnston, that had cancer and sadly, he passed away. He was only 8. I only knew him for a little bit, but he touched my life and I want to touch someone else's. It takes just one person to make a difference in a life. I plan to have my hair rubberbanded into clusters and have it cut so that I may donate it to an organization that can make wigs for people who have lost their hair. Then I am going to shave my head in front of my whole school (at an assembly) to help raise funds for St. Baldrick's. I'm calling my fundraiser "Just One" because it is just me who will be shaving my head...and because it takes "just one" to make a difference. Will you be that one who will help me reach my goal? I would love to reach my donation goal before I get my head shaved (March 21, 2014) so that I can announce at my school's assembly how much money I raised for St. Baldrick's. But don't worry, you can keep donating even afterwards and I will even post pictures of my shaved head! St. Baldrick's will keep my donation page active for you to donate all the way through December 31, 2014. UPDATE: My goal was $5,000 and I did reach it about a week before my shave, so I increased my goal to $6,000. I was over my goal on the day of my shave! I would love to keep increasing it to $10,000. Thank you for reading my message and hopefully you will donate. Please share my message with others. The more people who donate, the closer we can get to a cure for kids.
