I'm shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research! Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures.
I was introduced to St Baldrick's Foundation in 2013 by my good friend Dr. Joanne Porter, a pediatric oncologist at Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY. I supported her fundraising efforts last year and attended the event to give moral support as she had her head shaved. I also promised her that I would join in the fun and fundraising in 2014.
I have a more personal reason for wanting to raise money for childhood cancer research. My cousin's youngest daughter, Hannah, was diagnosed with Infant Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia with MLL-r in August 2012 at 3 months old! Hannah has had incredible support from her loving family and friends who have cared for her and prayed for her. She has an amazing team of doctors, nurses and therapists at Minneapolis Children's Hospital. You can read her story by clicking on her name in the "Kids Honored" section below.
Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
Thank you for your support!
